Pete and Carl have finally reunited! It's been nearly a year since they were last together, and today they finally talked to one another at a pub. Carl arrived first and when he found out Pete might be arriving later, he decided to stay. When Pete finally arrived an hour and a half later, the old friends nervously hugged. They sat down and chatted for a short while and hugged again but with more affection. The meeting ended with them complimenting each others clothes and showing the labels of their jackets to one another. Lets hope the meetings don't end here.

Babyshambles are currently recording their first album! The NME reports that they've already done songs 'Gang of Gin', 'Fuck Forever', 'Albion', 'My Darling Clementine', 'Black Boy Lane', '32nd of December', and more. They're still working on recording songs such as 'The Man Who Came to Stay', 'Killamangiro', 'Babyshambles', and 'What Katie Did Next'. This is some very exciting news, but I've learned to never get my hopes too high when it comes to Pete and Babyshambles.

I have a question. Babyshambles is always spelled differently, on iTunes it's Baby Shambles, some others make it BabyShambles, I do it Babyshambles, so does anyone out there know the correct way to write Babyshambles(or Baby Shambles or BabyShambles)?

I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates, I've just been so busy with my classes. Midterms were last week. I still have a lot of work to do, I have books reports to write, novels to read, a midterm to make up, and a topic for an essay to think up. Spring break is next week so the week after that I should be catching up with the Libertines. It's kinda pathetic though, I'm spending my spring break getting my wisdom teeth removed, searching for a job and catching up on school work.

Crazy, yet Successful

Peter's band Babyshambles played a chaotic gig last night at the London Carling Brixton Academy. The show was interupted twice. The first time was because the people in the front were getting too crowded, so they left the stage to calm them down. That's certainly a good reason to stop the show. The second incident was because Pete disconnected Patrick Walden's guitar. This was apparently an accident, but Patrick was seen trying to punch Pete. They were seperated and were taken off the stage to resolve the problem. The band came back together and finished the show. Although there was some problems it's been reported that the show sounded great.

Oh, and Pete didn't miss his curfew; he had it extended to midnight for just February 22 to play the show.

I received my favorite American music magazine in the mail today and I'm sorely disappointed. The issue featured a readers poll for the music of 2004. Here's a list of some of the categories, there are three results for each poll(I'll leave out the results from the lame polls about The OC):

Best Band:
1. Interpol(yeah I like them)
2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs(used to hate them, but then they grew on me)
3. The Strokes(as long as their third album is good)

Most Overrated Artist:
1. The Killers(fuck you, spin voters, the killers are awesome)
2. Franz Ferdinand(ehhh...i don't think so)
3. Good Charlotte(agree, should be #1)

Most Underrated Artist:
1. Interpol(whaaat!? interpol is always in spin)
2. The Shins(ok)
3. Yeah Yeah Yeahs(but they've been on the cover of spin!!)

Best Breakout Act:
1. Modest Mouse(agree)
2. Franz Ferdinand(agree)
3. The Killers(agree)

Best New Artist:
1. Franz Ferdinand(but I thought they were overrated. hmmm.)
2. The Killers(damn right!)
3. The Arcade Fire(i don't know them)

1. Julian Casablancas(sometimes looks hot, sometimes like shit)

That's only a few of the many polls featured. So, did you notice anything really fucked up? NO LIBERTINES! You'd think they'd at least make it in the Most Underrated category because they are in the U.S., or Carl would be one of the Sex Gods. Thank goodness I also have a subsription to the NME, if these polls were in there the Libs would top every list. Wake up, America, the Libertines are amazing.

Carl Barat Now a Solo Artist

Carl has signed a deal with Vertigo records. An album might be coming out by the end of the year. Carl has hinted that other members of the Libertines might be joining him.

If a member of the Libs join him it will probably be Gary, seeing as both Pete and John have new bands now.

Welcome Back, Peter!

Pete arrived on time to play a gig at a club in London. He played nine songs with his band BabyShambles. The NME reported on the show saying everything went well, and Pete looked healthy. It also said that his Naltrexone implant was visible. Naltrexone is a medication that blocks the effects of opiods(drugs such as herion, morphine, or codeine).

This is great news. He's doing well in rehab and sticking to his curfew. My faith in Pete is growing each time I hear stories like this.

Best British Band, of Course

The Libertines picked up just one NME award for being the Best British Band. Carl, still recovering from an operation to remove a tumor from behind his ear, was there to receive the award. Pete, still being in rehab, was not. Apparently, it was an emotional moment when the band accepted the award, and Carl mentioned Peter. There's not too many details on what they said, so I'll update when more come in.

Pete has spoken to British tabloid The Sun about his six nights in jail saying, "It was hell on earth."

He's promising that this trip to rehab will be the last. He said, "I’m determined to stay clean. Six days without heroin hasn’t been as bad as I expected. I’ve been through the worst of the detox and I want to prove to my mum above anybody else I can do this. I also need to stay clean for the sake of my band mates and all my fans."

I'm glad he mentioned the fans, it's good to know he's thinking about us.

Pete's Free!! Well, Not Really.

Peter Doherty had been released from prison today, but is being sent straight to a drug rehabilitation center. He's also been given a strict curfew, requiring him to stay home between the hours of 10pm and 7am, and when he does go out he must be accompanied by security. Oh, and he also has to give up his passport and report to the local police daily.

I hope all these restrictions help him, but I'm not counting on it. He's tried to clean up so many times (sometimes on his own and sometimes forcibly), and he gave up every time. Even after going to prison before didn't help. My hope for Pete is waning, but I'll still wish him luck on recovering this time.

Good luck, Pete. Please, don't let us down.

I noticed that Libertines-de, one of the best Libertines sites, wasn't being updated lately, but its finally done it. It, of course, has all the Pete news (whatever, I'm tired of him). It also has the most interesting update that I've seen in awhile. Gary Powell, drummer for the Libs, gave an interview for Billboard.com. In the article there is news of the Libertines coming together, still without Pete, to play the Summer festivals and they might even play some NEW material. Gary says in the interview, "Just go out and do it, that's kind of been our motto: have instruments, will play".
Some people will be upset to know that they might go on without Pete, but like I said, I'm tired of him. I hope they do play gigs in the future, and I'm excited that there's a chance of hearing new songs from them.

Well, 'tis true that Pete has been in jail again. He's currently released on bail. The man that he assaulted, named Max Carlish, luckily decided not to press charges, but Pete is still being charged with blackmail and robbery. *sigh*

There is a new rumor about Pete Doherty; apparently he is in an Islington prison for hitting a photographer. The rumor is currently circulating throughout the various Libertine and Babyshambles forums. I hope it's not true. I'm becoming a little tired of hearing about Pete's love life and bad behavior. Could we get back to the music? I can't wait until the Babyshambles, or Carl's new band, comes out with a new album. Then, the press and forums will be talking about music.

I finally bought the Libs DVD! It's fantastic. I watched it twice last night. I really like the live performance at the Factory and the 'In the Van' bit. It did make me a bit sad, though, seeing the band happily together. Someday again, maybe...

The big news in Libertines (and/or Babyshambles) Land is that Pete is now dating supermodel Kate Moss. Okay, whatever, but quite a few people seem pissed about it. Apparently, he had the letter K tattooed on his arm, and she has the letter P tattooed on her. He says he's in love, which I'm hoping will help him with his addictions. I don't see why everyone is so upset.

Could everyone just leave Pete alone? Oh, and good luck with Ms. Moss, Pete!

If you love the Libertines for more than their music, meaning you also find the members attractive and are dying to see new pictures of them, I recommend you go to LiveJournal.com and search for Libertine(or Pete, Baby Shambles, Carl, Gary, John) journals. There's even one dedicated to just Libertine pics.
Last night I was bored so I looked through past entries on a journal dedicated to Pete(I think it was named Bilo, or something like that) and found a somewhat disturbing picture. It shows Pete from the neck down completely naked. At first I giggled like an embarrassed little girl, then I was oddly fascinated. Well if you're a Libertines(or Doherty) fan and a perv, search for Peter, or Bilo, journals and look for the pic. I could find it for you, but that would take the fun out of it.

According to NME, that is. Carl Barat and Pete Doherty, the lead singers/guitarists/songwriters of the Libertines, have taken the top spot on NME's cool list. I'm pleased that they both are number one, instead of just one of them.

Well, I'm sure most fans have already heard the saddening news, Carl Barat told NME that the Libertines will split at the end of the year if Peter Doherty can't join back with the band. I felt my heart break when I read the news, but nothing can last forever, I guess.

The Libertines on MTV2

I nomally don't like MTV or MTV2 but this week on MTV2 is spanking new music week and they are showing the Libertines. You can see them on a show called Discover and Download. They played two songs, Can't Stand Me Now and What Became of the Likely Lads. The show also gives a little background info on them.

Fuse is such a cool channel, especially The Dive. The Dive is an indie rock video show. The Dive shows the Libertines, and other really good bands. If you have Fuse, The Dive is on Saturday at 10pm. Check it out, you might see a Libertines video.

October's Spin Magazine

Spin magazine is definitely America's best mainstream music magazine, but of course, the alternative is Rolling Stone and anything is better than that rag. Anyways, Spin's October issue had the cool list, with rock's top 40 coolest people. Well, most of the people on the list were pretty cool but I do have protests. Andre 3000 (member of Outkast and number 3 on Spin's cool list) is very cool, extremely cool, but is his music rock? No. So why is he on rock's top 40 cool people list. Either only include rock musicians or change the name from rock's coolest to just music's coolest. Another thing, where is Pete Doherty or Carl Barat? They're cooler than most on the list. I was deeply hurt by their exclusion. Other than that it was a cool list. I was especially pleased to see Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse and Carlos D. of Interpol.

Babyshambles Gig

After cancelling gigs in Scotland Pete Doherty, former Libertines guitarist, finally performs! According to NME, Pete performed a triumphant show with his band Babyshambles.
I'm glad to hear he's stopped the no-shows, but I do hope he'll be back in the Libertines soon.
